Insights into Google's Privacy Policy

As you know that Google is providing a bundle of services & products to its users all over the world and to cover all different products, Google has 70 privacy documents, and terms of service which are contradicting with the  current policy of the company which is to integrate its products. Right now Google wants to integrate all its different products so that user can experience the intuitive interface and simplicity throughout the company’s products. On 25th January, 2012 Google announces that they are going to change their policy which will take effect on 1st March 2012 in order to create a one policy to manage all its products. Before that Google changed its policy back in 2010.

Purpose Of Google’s New Privacy Policy:

The purpose of this policy is to explain its users in a consolidated and simplified way that what type of information they collect from its users and how company will use this information.  Moreover, if you are using Gmail, searching through Google, Google+, YouTube and calendar then you only have to count on one simple policy rather than individual policy of each product.  Or if you sign in for one service then Google may combine information you have provided for other service to treat you as a single user.

To support its policy, Google has launched the feature of personal search that not only searches from the web but also from your personal stuff too. Like if you search for some place then Google may search from your Google+ account as well which is a best use of the user personal information while keeping it private. Other feature like booking an appointment in Google Calendar with someone from your Gmail contacts, and Google can also intimate you when you may be getting late a meeting keeping in view the current traffic condition and your location.

Second thing is Terms of Service which you agree when you use the products of the Google. Google is also making it read as its privacy policy to maintain its one main Google Terms of Service for all of its products.
As per the Google policy, they don’t sell or share their user’s information with external entities without permission or any court order. Similarly Ads Preference Manager lets you to edit the ads as per your interest that Google advertise when you use its products or service. These ads are displayed keeping in view your personal information that you provided to the Google. Google privacy policy explains that “Over a time it will result in better search results and ads”.
So you can say that this new policy could also help Google to generate more ad revenue while collecting data from your personal information.In short, these changes in policy may start the new era of web trends in days to come.
