Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Vine – How To Create Perfect Social Media Posts [INFOGRAPHIC]

“Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away,” wrote acclaimed French writer Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry and, in many ways, he could have been taking about social media, albeit close to a century before its existence.

You see, the perfect post on a platform like Twitter is often as much about what you leave out as what you say. Not only because of the hard and fast 140 character limit, but also because of the desire for efficiency and clarity of prose. And when you consider that each of your posts will also need a clear call to action, excellent punctuation, sufficient retweet space and a shortened URL, the area reserved for yourmessage – that is, what you’re actually trying to say – has to be very concise indeed. Which means it has to be perfect. Every single time.
In June we looked at an excellent resource from My Clever Agency which provided clear tips on how to write perfect posts for social media. Good news: they’ve updated their visual, which now covers Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+, alongside newcomers Instagram and Vine.

For starters, you’ll need to empower the right employees to manage your social channels, sharing responsibility and goals. You must learn to listen to your audience, using specific metrics to analyse feedback and success. You’ll need to position yourself as an authority within your field, identifying the one thing that separates you from your competitors. The Women Of Social Media [INFOGRAPHIC]

Social media has always skewed favourably towards female users. Indeed, a recent study from the Pew Research Center discovered that female usage of social media sites well exceeds that of men. Moreover, women are typically more active on these channels, too.
So what does this mean for marketers?
Weber Shandwick partnered with KRC Research in their Digital Women Influencers survey, which polled 2,000 North American women about their social media usage habits in order to identify behavioural patterns and influencers.
Some key takeaways from the report are highlighted below:
  • 86 percent of U.S. women had at least one social media account, with 2.2 accounts on average
  • These women spend an average of 12 hours each week (two hours per day) using social media
  • Women of social media are more influential than women in general
  • The different social networks cater to different types of women – for example, Twitter skews towards younger females, Pinterest female users are most likely to have children and female Instagram users are most likely to reside in the Northeast of America

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest – Is Social Media Turning Us Into Zombies? [INFOGRAPHIC]

Is social media turning us into zombies?
Perhaps. Certainly, some Facebook users can’t stop posting endless photos of their children, or are constantly checking in to any and everywhere that they go. It’s fair to say that there are people on Twitter who feel the need to share every single thought that enters their brains. And I think we all know one or two folks who love to document every event in their lives, no matter how (in)significant, with an Instagram-filtered photograph that is then eagerly submitted to their Pinterest board.
The benefits of social media are numerous and well documented, but, as in most of the good things in life, balance and moderation are not only recommended, but positively critical to long-term enjoyment and results. Moreover, if you’re writing tweets, making status updates and taking photographs of everything that happens in your life, are you really experiencing any of it at all?
This infographic from Confused.com takes a closer look at the impending social media zombie apocalypse.

Marketing 101 – Social Media vs Traditional Media [INFOGRAPHIC]

Social media has rapidly integrated itself into our everyday lives, both personal and professional, and it’s perhaps had no greater impact than on the world of marketing, with consumers and brands seeing enormous benefits and changes.
But how does social media compare to traditional marketing? What are the pros and cons of each?
The advantages of social media marketing are numerous.
  1. It’s cheaper. A lot cheaper. You can reach 1,000 people for a fraction of the cost using social media than you can through television, billboards or even email
  2. Social media is the only marketing platform that allows you to engage and interact with your consumers – it’s a two-way relationship, which can be hugely lucrative for brands
  3. The results are measurable, and marketers can take immediate action to spot trends and re-align campaigns
It’s not all gravy, though. Social media campaigns can be time consuming and the impact can disseminate very quickly, whereas traditional marketing campaigns, certainly in television, can produce short term results that have greater tangibility.
This infographic from Kuhcoon.com takes a closer look at social media vs traditional marketing.
